Swami Vivekananda Was an Unshakeable Patriot and an Ocean of Spirituality: Amit Swami

Rewari | January 12 (National Youth Day) On the occasion of National Youth Day, the Young Men’s Association of India observed the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda with great reverence and enthusiasm. Under the leadership of National President Amit Swami, office bearers and members of the association paid floral tributes by garlanding the portrait of Swami Vivekananda at the organization’s office located in the Auto Market.

 

Addressing the gathering, Amit Swami said that Swami Vivekananda was an unshakeable patriot, a great spiritual thinker, and a perennial source of inspiration for the youth. He stated that Swami Vivekananda was born on January 12, 1863, in Kolkata, and his original name was Narendra Nath Dutta. Raised in a religious environment, he developed a deep curiosity about religion, philosophy, and God from an early age.

 

He further said that Swami Vivekananda carried out an in-depth study of religion, philosophy, history, social sciences, Hindu scriptures, and Western religious texts, and earned a degree in Arts. At the young age of 25, he renounced worldly life and set out on a foot journey across India. During this journey, at the request of the ruler of the Khetri princely state in Rajasthan, Kunwar Ajit Singh, he adopted the name Swami Vivekananda.

Amit Swami highlighted that in 1893, Swami Vivekananda represented India at the first World Parliament of Religions held in Chicago, USA. His powerful and inspiring speech there left religious leaders, scholars, and the entire world deeply impressed. He subsequently traveled to countries including Japan, China, Canada, Germany, and England, spreading the profound message of Hinduism and Vedanta across the globe.

 

Swami Vivekananda was a disciple of Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa. Humanity and service to mankind formed the foundation of his teachings. After returning to India in 1897, he established the Ramakrishna Mission at Belur (Howrah), which continues to serve society in India and worldwide. In 1900, he also participated in the second World Parliament of Religions held in Paris. He attained Mahasamadhi on July 4, 1902, at Belur Math.

 

Amit Swami said that Swami Vivekananda inspired the youth towards mental strength, compassion, patriotism, and physical fitness, and emphasized that when a nation’s youth dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to achieving their goals, the progress of the nation is inevitable.

On this occasion, Harchand Jangra, Ishwar Pehalwan, Sonu Yadav, Praveen Aggarwal, Lalit Gupta, Manish Yadav, Rajendra Saini, Paras Chaudhary, Gaurav Harit, Dharmveer Prajapat, Ramu Chaudhary, Mahabir, Mayank, and Khushi Ram Gaur were especially present.
