Lord Swraj Paul Was a Man of Multi-Dimensional Personality: Amit Swami

Rewari. Former President of Rewari Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), President of Young Men’s Association of India, and National President of Human Association of India, Amit Swami, expressed deep grief over the demise of British industrialist, philanthropist, Labour politician, and founder of the Caparo Group, Lord Swraj Paul.

Amit Swami said that Lord Swraj Paul was born on February 18, 1931, in Jalandhar, Punjab. In 1960, after the untimely demise of his daughter Ambika Paul, he established the “Ambika Paul Foundation” in her memory and dedicated his life to the welfare of children and youth.

He founded the Caparo Group in 1968, beginning with the steel industry, and later expanded into automobiles, engineering, and other global business sectors. Lord Swraj Paul also served as Chancellor of several of the world’s most prominent universities, earning global recognition for his contributions to education and philanthropy. In 2008, he became the first Indian-origin person to be appointed to the House of Lords. He was also a member of the Privy Council, Empressors of British Business, Mayor of London’s Business Board, and British Industries Round Table.

Lord Swraj Paul played a key role in the London Olympic Games of 2005 and 2012. He was conferred several honorary degrees from prestigious universities across the world. The Government of India also honored him with the Padma Bhushan in 1983.

Amit Swami said that the passing of a great industrialist and philanthropist like Lord Swraj Paul is an irreparable loss not only to India but to the entire world. He was truly a humble, graceful, and multi-dimensional personality
