Bawal’s Jaliyawas resident Sanjay Pehelwan, son of Subhash Chand, has made the state proud by winning two gold medals in the National Powerlifting Competition held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon (Mumbai). The competition was organized under the aegis of the International Powerlifting League.

Sanjay, competing in the 90 kg weight category in the specially-abled (disabled) category, won gold medals in the open powerlifting competition. He lifted 180 kg in the bench press event and 230 kg in the deadlift event, securing top positions in both.

Sanjay’s impressive performance has earned him a spot in the upcoming Mr. Olympia Powerlifting Competition to be held in Los Angeles, USA, next year.

Upon his return from Mumbai, Sanjay visited Amit Swami, Director-General of the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Association and President of the Gym Association, Rewari, at his residence. Amit Swami honored Sanjay by presenting him with a pagri (turban) and a mala (garland), acknowledging his remarkable achievements.

Amit Swami praised Sanjay, saying, “He is an inspiration to the youth, having achieved this feat through his unwavering determination and hard work. Sanjay has not only made his locality proud but has also brought laurels to the entire state.”
