In a landmark moment for Indian bodybuilding and physique sports, Amit Swami, Director General of the Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Federation and National President of the Young Men’s Association of India, has been conferred with the prestigious IBBF Gold Order Award by the Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF), Mumbai. The honour recognizes his exceptional contribution spanning over three decades toward the growth, development, promotion, and global expansion of bodybuilding and physique sports.

The ceremony became deeply emotional and symbolic when Amit Swami received the award from his mother, Mrs. Prakashwati Swami, reflecting the values of dedication, discipline, and respect that have shaped his remarkable journey.

Amit Swami’s contribution to the sport dates back to January 1996, when he organized his first district-level bodybuilding competition. Since then, his tireless efforts have elevated the sport from grassroots to the international arena. Under his mentorship, numerous national and international athletes have been trained, many of whom have gone on to represent India on prestigious global platforms.

The path, however, was not without challenges. Despite facing significant obstacles and resistance, Amit Swami remained steadfast in his vision, continuing his mission with unwavering determination and commitment.

Congratulating him on this historic achievement, Datuk Paul Chua, widely regarded as the Father of Modern Bodybuilding and Physique Sports and President of the World and Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Federations, extended his heartfelt wishes. He was joined by several eminent international sports leaders and legends, including Ms. Christina Wyckem, Executive Director of the World Federation; Sugree Supawerkul, Secretary General of the Asian Federation; Chetan M. Pathare, Secretary General of the South Federation; Ramesh Kumar Swami (Advocate), President of IBBF; Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee Premchand Degra; Arjuna Awardees T.V. Paul and S. Bhaskaran; WWE World Champion and Hollywood-Bollywood actor The Great Khali (Dilip Singh Rana); six-time Mr. Olympia winner Dorian Yates (England); Indian boxing icon Vijender Singh, along with many other distinguished global sports personalities.

Prior to receiving the honour, Amit Swami organized a special awareness session at Temple Gym, where he strongly cautioned young trainees against the use of anabolic steroids, describing them as extremely harmful substances that severely damage the heart, kidneys, and liver. He urged athletes to rely on natural nutrition, including millets, milk, eggs, curd, salads, green vegetables, and balanced diets.

*Addressing the youth, Amit Swami emphasized:*

There is no shortcut to success. True achievement comes only through dedication, hard work, and unwavering determination.
